A Subvariant, as we define it here on hobbyDB, is an item that is VERY similar to another and even collectors sometimes would have to look closely at what makes them different. Brands regard them as the same item. This is in contract to Variants.
A few examples of Subvariants would be...
- Wheels, baseplate material, interior colors...
- Packaging Variations
- Language versions
- Different sizes for Shirts and other clothing
- and much, much more!
Here are a few rules of thumb to guide you while considering variants -
- Subvariants should have a Subvariant Title (which explains what makes the Subvariant different to the others) and a Detail image that shows that difference.
- It is rare but possible for an item to have more than 5 Subvariants.
